Therapeutic Laser: New advancement offered at Bellerose Animal Hospital

The prevention and management of pain is a fundamental part of quality and compassionate veterinary care. Laser therapy is today's standard of care following trauma, after surgery and in some skin and dental conditions. This therapy can ease a pet's chronic pain and decrease the use of some pain medications. Talk with our doctors and nurses about this advanced, safe procedure to ease and improve you dog and cat's comfort which can be done right here at Bellerose as part of our Analgesia (pain relief) Department.
Our Pharmacy Department
DO NOT be surprised when our receptionist transfers you to our pharmacy department to have your pets' prescriptions renewed! Refilling medications is now easier! And, our pharmacy nurse can answer your questions about the medication(s) so you are fully at ease with how and when to give your pets their prescriptions.
More communication and help in the examining room
We know that you and your pet will feel especially welcomed, cared for and more comfortable as our veterinary aide escourts you into the examining room to meet your veterinarian and begin your companions examination and/or treatment. By pairing our doctors with an aide we now have a team with an enhanced approach more able to discuss each of your concerns, answer your questions and insure the sense of "family practice" which is so important to complete and compassionate care.

Hospital Staff Notes
Kudos to Dr Sara Witherell as she pursues advanced degree in Veterinary Internal Medicine and Family Practice.
Kudos to Dr Mariliz Hernandez as she begins her advanced mentoring with a Board Certified Dermatologist which will bring advanced standards of Dermatological (skin) care to Bellerose Animal Hospital.
Congratulations to Dr. Mariliz Hernandez on completing an intensive five-day post-graduate course in dermatology. Feel free to download and fill out our Pet Dermatology History Form if you have made a dermatology appointment for your pet with Dr. Hernandez. Completing the form at home gives you a chance to review the issues associated with your pet's skin problems, giving the doctor a more complete picture of your dog or cat's history at the time of your pet's examination.

Fit-For-Life Pet Weight Management Program
25 percent of cats and dogs seen by a veterinarian are overweight. The effects of excess weight can include: shorter life expectancy, joint disorders, cardiac and respiratory diseases, Diabetes Mellitus, poor coat and skin quality, decreased immunity and increased surgical and/or anesthetic risk.
To help you control your pet's weight, we can offer you a special program for weight loss. A number of monitoring aids are available to help your pet through a diet smoothly and successfully. This is a wonderful key to a healthier, happier pet.
The Wisdom Panel - Dog DNA Testing
What kind of dog do you have? What is in the "mix" of your mixed-breed dog? By analyzing your dog's DNA to detect the dog breeds in its genetic makeup, the Wisdom Panel test may deepen your insights and improve your understanding of your pet.
Why should you know? Wanting to know your dog's breed mix is much more than a matter of curiosity. The combination of breeds that make up a dog may affect its appearance, behavior and well-being in many ways.
The important genetic information provided can help our veterinary team develop a care plan specifically tailored to your dog's individual needs.
The genetic test analysis profiles the breeds detected in your dog, including historical background, physical traits, and breed-associated behaviors.
