Veterinary Surgical Services at Bellerose Animal Hospital Bellerose Animal Hospital is well-equipped to perform most minor and major surgical procedures, from spays and neuters to more complicated emergency, orthopedic and soft-tissue surgeries. We take pride in offering advanced abdominal, soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries. Some of the orthopedic procedures that we perform include fracture repair and joint surgery. Our doctors have experience successfully repairing torn anterior cruciate ligaments, the most common knee injury in dogs and cats, as well as patella (kneecap) luxations. Bellerose Animal Hospital is one of the few veterinary hospitals in the western Long Island area to provide these advanced surgeries.

Before Your Pet's Surgery

Prior to surgery, your pet receives a thorough physical examination to identify any existing medical conditions that might endanger his or her health. Since all problems cannot be detected on physical examination, we also perform pre-anesthetic blood testing. These tests not only give us a more complete picture of your pet's health, but also allow us to tailor an anesthetic regimen that is specific for your pet.

During Your Pet's Surgery

During your pet's surgery, Bellerose Animal Hospital utilizes extensive anesthetic monitoring devices, including pulse oximetry and other cardiac monitoring procedures. Pain management is a part of our pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative anesthetic and medical protocol. All surgical patients, including those undergoing routine procedures, receive pain control medications. We urge you to discuss operative pain management options for your pet with our staff.
